Google Business Profile for clinics: a practical guide
To get more patients from Google Maps, a clinic needs a verified and complete Google Business Profile: the right primary category, every service and treatment listed, accurate hours, real photos, a booking or WhatsApp link, regular posts, and a steady flow of genuine patient reviews with professional replies.
When patients search for a treatment near them, Google usually shows a map with a handful of clinics before any website. Those clinics get a large share of the calls and direction requests. Your Google Business Profile is what decides whether you're one of them.
1. Verify your profile and get the basics right
- Name: your real clinic name, exactly as it appears on your signage. Adding keywords to the name breaks Google's guidelines.
- Primary category: the most specific one, for example "Dental clinic" or "Dermatologist". Add secondary categories for other specialties.
- Address and service area: accurate and matching your website.
- Hours: including Fridays, Ramadan hours and public holidays.
- Phone and WhatsApp: a number that is answered.
2. List every service and treatment
Add each treatment you offer, with a short description. This helps Google match your profile to specific searches like "teeth whitening" or "laser hair removal", in English and Arabic.
3. Add real photos
Patients want to see where they're going. Add photos of the entrance, reception, treatment rooms and your team. Avoid stock images.
4. Build a steady flow of genuine reviews
Reviews are one of the strongest signals for both Google and patients. Ask satisfied patients for a review at the right moment, for example after a successful treatment, and make it easy with a direct link or QR code at reception.
Reply to every review, positive or negative, politely and without sharing any patient information. Never buy reviews or offer rewards for them.
5. Post regularly
Use Google posts for updates, seasonal reminders and new services. Regular activity shows patients and Google that your clinic is active.
6. Connect it to your website
Link your profile to a fast, mobile-friendly website with clear pages for your main treatments, your location and an easy way to book. Make sure your clinic details are the same everywhere online.
7. Track the results
Google Business Profile shows how many people searched for you, called, requested directions or visited your website. Review these monthly alongside your actual bookings.
A note on AI search
AI assistants and Google's AI answers increasingly recommend clinics. They rely on the same signals: a complete profile, consistent details, genuine reviews and clear website content. A strong Google Business Profile helps you appear there too.
